Edward Joseph (Teddy) HASKINS
b. 17 Jan 1875 (HFB) Olveston, d. 13 Nov 1952 at 77, Bishopstoke
In the 1881 Census, at 6, with his parents and siblings at Hedge End Botley Hants.
In the 1891 Census, at 16, with his parents at Hannington Cottage, Bishopstoke.
Witness on his elder brother Frederic's Marriage Cert. in 1892.
m. Minnie TAYLOR, June qtr 1897 Winchester (2c 211).
Minnie was b. Jun qtr 1873 Bishopstoke (Winchester 2c 105), so 23 or 24 at the time.
(Minnie's father William Taylor was a coachman, born in Darley Dale, Derbyshire and his wife in the Salford/Manchester).
In the 1901 Census, Edward was a Schoolmaster's Assistant, living at Cedar Cottage Bishopstoke, aged 26 and 24, with Norah 2 and Dorothy 11 months, in the household of Minnie's parents – William Taylor 77 and Mary 67. William was a Land Agent and Collector of Rents, b. Darley Dale Derbyshire, and Mary was born in Pendleton Lancs.
Minnie d. 1936.
Teddy died in 1952. According to his Obituary, he never quite left Bishopstoke School, being a pupil, indentured teacher and teacher there for almost sixty years, retiring in 1937 (at c. 61) due to ill health. "A keen church-worker for a lengthy period", "always took leading parts in the comic operas" in the Parish Hall, and was a member of the Hampshire Friendly Society 1890-1952.

    Never married. Stayed in the family home in Bishopstoke.in the late 1930s.
    During the late 1930s until 1942, brought up her nephews.

    m. Leonard William BENNETT (HFB) 19 Sep 1925 (Winchester 2c 336)
    Leonard was b. 29 Sep 1898 (South Stoneham, Hants), d. Jan 1985
    (His mother was Ellen Vine PRICHARD, and her mother was Mary Ann VINE).
    In the 1930s, Leonard and Dorrie went to Kuala Lumpur as a design engineer on Malayan Railways. The two elder boys were sent back to Bishopstoke and were brought up by their grandparents and Aunt Noan. Dorrie and youngest son Jim escaped on the last boat out of Singapore in 1942 and got safely back to England, but Leonard spent the war in Changi, to the detriment of his health.
    From the 1950s onwards, they lived at Chandlers Ford 6km west of Bishopstoke, on the other side of Eastleigh.
